First you must be aware that releasing a vinyl in times like these is mainly a promotion tool. As digital downloads became available to nearly everybody everywhere, are cheaper and most important have a lot less weight to carry around than a physical release, a lot of DJs turned their back on the classic vinyl. Even so or perhaps even therefore it can be very important for a label to have a vinyl as physical release next to the digital download release. There are still many DJs, especially amongst the “big ones”, which use vinyl exclusively.

This is a simple overview of the steps that have to been taken when booking a vinyl pressing, what financial profit you can expect and where your vinyl will be offered for sale. All you have to do is to choose the tracks you would like to be on the vinyl. We take care of all the fabrication and distribution.
Please bear in mind that a basic prerequisite for pressing a vinyl is a professional mastering of your tracks.

Mastering a track means to prepare a track for publication on vinyl and give it a refinement of sound. Of course you are welcome to use our mastering service if you like.

For pressing of vinyl you may supply us a master with tracks as CD audio, WAV or AIFF files or a finished Laquer. You may supply masters on CD, DAT, 1/4″ analogue tape or as a DDP image file. You may also email any WAV/AIFF files to us but please make sure you Zip the files before sending.

Digital:
Data files (WAV,IAFF) on CDR, on line via FTP or audio upload system
We prefer ZIPPED files (rarzip, winzip, stuffit,DDP etc…)
Preferably no different samplefrequencies per track on one master
Please supply all tracks on one master in 44.1 Khz, 48 Khz, 96 Khz of 192 Khz
The bitrate can be 16,24 or 32 bit
Please supply tracks on a master in the right order, like mentioned on the labelcopy.
A clear track-index must be supplied with the master.

A labelcopy must be supplied, mentioning format (7″, 10″ or 12″) track titles and tracks per side. Please also mention the prefered RPM in which the audio should be cut, or specify if the engineer can decide depending on the total time and the Frequency-spectrum of the supplied audio.

Extra cutting instructions always need to be mentioned on the labelcopy.

To get the most out of your audio and the cut, please respect below timings:

Size RPM Optimum.Timing Max.Timing p. side
7″ 45 4:00 5:00 – 7:00
7″ 33 5:00 6:00 – 8:00
10″ 45 7:00 9:00 – 12:00
10″ 33 9:00 11:00 – 15:00
12″ DJ 33 10:00 12:00 – 15:00
12″ DJ 45 8:00 9:00 – 10:00
12″ LP 45 9:00 12:00 – 18:00
12″ LP 33 18:00 21:00 – 32:00

Exceeding these times and RPM can effect the quality of the audio. The longer the timings, the more consequences it will have for the sound quality (spectrum) and sound level.

Please consider the spectrum for vinyl mastering.
